Introduced in March of 1959, Barbie is an 11 1/2 inch fashion doll from Mattel that can be accessorized with a multitude of clothes, pets, friends, vehicles and just about anything else. The Barbie line is Mattel's largest and most successful toy line, having become a media franchise including all sorts of Barbie-branded goods, animated films and television series, and software.
